Todd Wertman Bio

Todd Wertman entered the collector car business in 2002 when David Gooding, president of RM Auctions, Inc., hired him to catalogue the Richard Freshman collection. Wertman, an avid car enthusiast, had been working as an independent movie producer since he graduated from UC Berkeley in 1994.

Production achievements include Get Carter (2000) starring Sylvester Stallone and Michael Caine, Angel Eyes (2001) starring Jennifer Lopez and Jim Caviezel and Wasted (2002) starring Nick Stahl and Summer Phoenix.

While at RM Auctions, Wertman was a productive member of the car specialist team and regularly brought in consignments that were profitable. When RM Auctions consigned the ex-Phil Hill 1962 Le Mans-winning Ferrari 330 TRI/LM (s/n 0808) Wertman hired a video crew and arranged for Hill to drive the car at racing speeds around Willow Springs Racetrack. After the hot laps, Hill recounted his experience driving the car at LeMans in 1962. A portion of the video was played while the car broke a record on the auction block.

By the end of 2003, Symbolic Motor Car Company (La Jolla, CA) hired Wertman and he entered the fast-paced world of retail car sales. With new car brands, Bentley, Bugatti, Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini and a very high profile classic and competition department, life at Symbolic moved quickly. In his first year, Wertman averaged more than five cars per month – equal to tenured salesmen. For 2006 and 2007, Wertman was among the top-grossing salesman.

In 2010, Wertman joined Todd Blue’s Indigo Classic Cars and remains on the west coast from where he manages the collector car business.
